1745 Association Lecture - Culloden 18 April 2025

In this attachment you will find details of this year’s Christopher Duffy Memorial lecture which will be held at 3pm on Friday 18 April in the Robertson room of the Culloden Visitir Centre.
Attendance is not limited to members of the 1745 Association so please feel free to tell others about the talk. Tickets are limited to 40 so please book early if you wish to attend.
We thank our Vice Chairman Mr Ian Wear for his efforts in securing the services of Professor David Purdie who will speak on the surgeons who were part of Prince Charles’ army in the campaign of 1745-46.
Tickets are through Eventbrite and are £8.00 each.

1745 Association - St George’s Gardens Commemoration - 1st May 2025

Please find a revised itinerary here for those of you who will attend the day out in London and commemoration at St George’s Gardens.
At present we have 14 people who have expressed a serious interest in attending. There is room for a few more if there are any interested from either the 1745 Association or The Northumbrian Jacobites.
Please note the start time of 10.30. I have indicated to one or two of you that it was 10.45 but it will be a busy day.

1745 Association Annual Gathering 2025 - 4th to 7th September 2025

The Annual Gathering of The 1745 Association will this year be held in Aberdeenshire, based at the Strathburn Hotel in Inverurie.
This event is only open to members of the Association and partners and full details will be provided via our mailing lists and in the next edition of The Jacobite.

Robert Lyon Mass in Perth 2025 - Saturday 1st November 2025

The following was provided via our president, The Very Reverend A Emsley Nimmo.
This is currently a tentative plan and will be updated as and when full details have been confirmed:
Saturday 1 November at St Ninian's Cathedral Perth
- 12.00 Mass for Robert Lyon, Perth Presbyter and Jacobite Martyr, using the 1637 Scottish Liturgy. Music from the Cathedral Choir. Celebrant, the Provost, Sermon by Dean Emeritus Emsley Nimmo, President of the 1745 Association. Banners etc.
- Followed by wreath laying at the gateway to the Jacobite HQ in 1745 (picture attached) by courtesy of Kyley, owner of the Silver Linings Jewelry and Gift Shop - using the bracket for her hanging basket. Prayer at the site by Dr Nimmo.
- 13:30 approx. Celebration Lunch at the Salutation Hotel, which was used by the Jacobite officers while they were in Perth. Food costs are not excessive. It is suggested each person pays their own bill. https://strathmorehotels-thesalutation.com/
- After lunch members can visit the 1745 Association collection at the AK Bell Library.
